The flag of Iran consists of three horizontal bands of green, white, and red, each color symbolizing a distinct facet of Iranian culture and belief. The top stripe is green, representing growth, happiness, unity, nature, vitality, and the Persian language. Below the green lies the white band, symbolizing peace and honesty. This color serves as a reminder of the importance of peace in Iranian society. The bottom stripe is red, standing for courage, life, love, warmth, and martyrdom, reflecting the blood shed by those who died for Iran. Additionally, the flag features the national emblem in red, centered in the white band. This emblem, which resembles a stylized tulip or the word Allah, symbolizes God’s sovereignty, reflecting Iran’s Islamic culture. Along the inner edges of the green and red bands, the phrase “Allahu Akbar” (God is great) is repeated 22 times in Kufic script, marking the 22nd of Bahman, the date of the Iranian Revolution.
