The flag of the Republic of Lithuania has three equal horizontal stripes. The top stripe is colored yellow. The middle stripe is colored green, and the bottom stripe is colored red.

History of Lithuanian Flag
Lithuania was a Grand Duchy represented by a red banner that featured a white knight. It was then occupied by Russia, but it became independent in the year 1918 at the end of WWI. The current flag inspired by the tricolors that were hoisted in Europe was raised in Lithuania on March 20, 1918, and was adopted as the national flag, and was used until 1940. Lithuania was then occupied by the Soviet Union. During WWII, Lithuania was occupied by the Nazi Germany from 1941 – 1944. Between 1945 to 1989 Lithuania then was reoccupied by Soviet Russia and was made part of the Soviet Union. The flag was suppressed and Lithuania was not allowed to have its own national symbols. The flag hoisted during Soviet rule was a red Soviet Flag with the name of the republic, which then changed to a red flag with green and white bars at the bottom. The flag of 1918 was readopted in 1989, before Lithuania’s independence and before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Lithuania became officially independent in 1990. The last modification of the flag was done in 2004 when the aspect ratio of the flag was changed, and it has remained unchanged since then.
